The Carmel Old Town Antique Mall ( COTAM ) opened at 38 W. Main St. on October 1, 2003. Roman and Linda Chang started with 5 dealers in the summer of 2002 to form a new mall because we wanted additional quality locations to sell our things. We placed an ad inviting applicants to join us in Carmel, Indiana and soon filled our 1st location in Mohawk shopping center, opening October 1st 2002 with a total of 10 dealers. Our waiting list grew rapidly as visiting dealers recognized our standards of excellence and wanted to be part of the team. We doubled in size in 2 weeks after our neighbor moved out and we did some radical remodeling. By November 1st we were enjoying great success with 19 dealers and a waiting list of over 25. In February of 2003 we started negotiations on our current location. By May we closed the deal and started remodeling one of the oldest buildings in Carmel located in the heart of Old Town. Our waiting list by this time was 125! We opened In October with 72 dealers and 100% occupied in 84 booths and showcases. Our floor space went from 1750 to 3500 to a little under 12,000 sq. ft. in a short year. We currently have a waiting list but new dealers are not selected from the order they came aboard but from an application and interview process to insure the best quality and diversity we feel our mall should offer. New applications are always welcome and we are fortunate in that our best selling point for dealers and customers alike are the impressions they get when visiting the mall. We stress quality and diversity along with a friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. For dealer and customer convenience COTAM is open 7 days a week from 10am - 7pm. We offer amenities such as a lounge area, free internet access, shipping and delivery, free parking, ebay listings and much more for our customers and dealers. We schedule and mail a calendar of events to a large customer base. If you would like to receive news please submit your information on the contact us page. We belong to the NAAM and subscribe to specialty services such as Reproduction News in order to stay current with trends and protect our customers and dealers from fakes and repros. The Old Town area of Carmel has recently been designated as the Arts & Design District and there are many exciting things happening here. There are several new projects under development that will offer opportunities for boutiques, art galleries, antique shops and restaurants. |
